Mughal Gardens
The blossoming gardens with a backdrop of lofty hills, commands a stupendous view of the Dal lake. Shalimar Bagh, Chashmesshahi Bagh and Nishat Bagh are the Mughal gardens, planted with steeped terraces and beautiful flowing watercourses. These are well laid out gardens, where visitors can enjoy the beauty of colorful blossoming flowers and admire the amazing water works.
Dal Lake
Dal lake is one of the important tourist attraction of Srinagar, located on the eastern part of the city. The panorama of series of lake with houseboats floating on them is worth praising. Surrounded by majestic mountains, the site offers panoramic view of the lake. Vacations can enjoy the traditional Kashmiri boat or the Shikaras ride and explore the immense natural beauty. Nagin is one of the most lovely part of Dal lake, separated from Dal lake by a causeway.
Shankaracharya Temple
Located on the Takhat-e-Suleiman hill, Shankaracharya Temple is one of the prominent sacred place of Hindu pilgrims. Lord Shiva is the presiding deity here. The temple is one of the oldest shrine of the Kashmir valley, constructed by Raja Gopadatya in 371 BC. It holds great archaeological importance and has a Persian inscription inside it. The main shrine with a circular cell, offers a magnificent view of the Srinagar. The temple is supported by a high octagonal platform, approached by a flight of hundred steps.
