Corbett National Park

Located in Nainital district, of Uttar Pradesh in India, is the Corbett National Park and Tiger Reserve. Established in 1936, as Hailey National Park, the park supports the rich variety of vegetation making the ideal habitat for the wilds. Corbett was once the haunting preserve of the British royals. It was named in honor of the late Jim Corbett, the legendary hunter who later on turned into a author and a enthusiast photographer. Flora :

Fauna :

Corbett National Park is renowned for the variety of wildlife especially the tigers. Apart from Tigers,elephants, Leopards / Panthers, Jungle cats, Fishing Cats, Leopard cats, Himalayan black bears, Sloth bears, Jackals, Martens, Dholes, Civets, Mongooses, Otters, Hares, Porcupines, Chital (spotted deer), Hog deer, Barking deer, Ghorals, Wild Boars, Pangolins, Macaques, Langurs and Blue Bulls (Nilgais) are some of the species which are found here.


Avifauna :

Corbet is paradise for for bird lovers. Some of the commonly found birds in the jungle include Crested Serpent Eagle, the Black-winged Kite, the Indian Shikra, the Himalayan Grey-headed Fishing Eagle, Himalayan Vultures, Lesser and Greater Spotted Eagles, Hawk-Eagles, the Crested Honey Buzzard, Osprey, the Peregrine Falcon, the Booted Hawk- Eagle , the Steppe Eagle and the Black Eagle.

A good pair of binoculars and Salim Ali's book of Indian birds are worth taking along. One may find some of the rare and endangered species of birds during the Ramganga River. A number of high altitude birds can also be spotted here during the winters.
